Jayalalithaa
was the most celebrated and prominent heroine of Tamil, Telugu and Kannada
movies during 60s and 70s. She received praise for her versatility as an actor, dancer and
singer and she earned the sobriquet of “The Queen of Indian Cinema”. Though she
had entered the movie field reluctantly, upon the urging of her mother to
support the family, Jayalalithaa worked prolifically. She appeared in 135 films between 1961 and
1980 and she joined politics in 1982, her political rise was rapid; within a
few years she became AIADMK propaganda secretary and was elected to the Rajya Sabha, and became the youngest
and the first woman chief minister of Tamilnadu.
The book which has
divided into two parts as ‘ammu’ and ‘amma’, describes the story of
Jayalalithaa from her birth to death. Her childhood name was ammu; when she
entered into politics and became the popular leader she was fondly revered as
‘amma’. Her life was full of retaliations, challenges, feuds and of the unexpected
successes too. The book depicts the
tempestuous life through the volume of 300 hundred pages.
It has been taken a year
to complete the work of the book. Author has met hundreds of persons related
with ‘amma’ and visited many places where her traces rest to collect the facts.
The main sources of the details were the print media archives of different
newspapers and his journalism friends. He went through myriads of reports had
been brought out by the press between 1980s and 2016. The book has been
available most of the online stores in India and US, UK, Spain, Italy, France, and
Germany. The translations of the book in different languages including Hindi,
Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada will be released in April-May 2018. The book was
published by the Delhi based publishing company, Educreation Publishing.

Author Jafar Sadik from resident of Kerla is an artist, documentarist
and journalist. He writes in English and Malyalam alike and have published 10
books (5 in English and 5 in Malayalam), viz. You are Malala, The Omen, Dead
Sea, Without Mask, Leyla and Majnun in English and Wayanattukaran Kadal
Kanumbole, Origami, Swatinte Putri, Ethramel Njan Ninne Pranayichirunnennu, Aareyum
Athirattu Snehikkaruthu. All these books are poetry collections. Jafar is post
graduate in journalism, Bachelor of English Language and Literature from
Calicut University and Bachelor of Library and Information Science from Madras
University. He has made several documentaries and has conducted various several
painting exhibitions.
